London Tobacco Alliance marks third anniversary with reflections and future direction

  • Wednesday, 5th November

  • Half day - Invitation Only

On 5th November, the London Tobacco Alliance will convene a half-day partners’ gathering to reflect on what we have achieved since our launch in 2022.

This will be an opportunity not only to look at our shared achievements but also to reaffirm priorities for the next stretch of London’s Smokefree 2030 ambition.

Who should attend?

The event is intended for public health, local authority, NHS, academic, third-sector and regulatory colleagues and invitation is limited to those directly involved in London’s tobacco control system and those working in the voluntary community sector.

Looking back at our role and how far we’ve come

Since LTA’s inception on 26 October 2022, the London Tobacco Alliance has served as a strategic hub for pan-London coordination in tobacco control enabling “once-for-London” collaboration, sharing insights, resources and joint campaign alignment among boroughs, NHS, trading standards and behavioural teams.

Celebrating key achievements

  • a relaunch of the Stop Smoking London website, which has attracted tens of thousands of visits since March 2023.
  • coordinated pan-London campaigns (e.g. Stoptober, No Smoking Day) as well as firsts for London in the creation and launch of Smoking in Pregnancy Week (2024) and Stop Smoking London LGBTQ+ Week (2025) with unified messaging and partner toolkits.
  • a new London-wide Smoke Free App offer and text message support service, with thousands of signups.
  • deeper partnership on Tobacco Control, communications and sharing best practice via the London Tobacco Control Network.

Looking ahead to Smokefree 2030 together

Given that smoking remains the single largest avoidable cause of death, disease and inequality, continuing to work together across the system is critical.

Together we will be looking forward at what gaps remain, where systems can be strengthened and how we translate learning to speed momentum and impact over the remaining years to 2030.

This is not a public event, but if you are a recognised stakeholder in London’s tobacco control system and expect to receive an invitation (or should have and have not), please get in touch or look out for further communications.
