Illegal tobacco survey for London

We need your views on illegal tobacco

The sale and use of illegal tobacco poses a significant threat to public health and safety. It also contributes to the growing problem of organised crime. As tobacco taxes continue to rise, smokers are often tempted to seek cheaper alternatives. The black market for tobacco continues to thrive as a result.

Addressing counterfeit tobacco in our city

The London Tobacco Alliance and London Trading Standards are working together to address this issue. This includes a survey to gauge public opinion on the availability and use of illegal tobacco. By collecting information from both smokers and non-smokers, they hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of the problem and how best to address it.

We want to hear from Londoners on illegal sales

The survey will help to shape a campaign that aims to increase awareness of the dangers and encourage people to report selling illicit tobacco within their communities. This will help make London a safer place to live and work.

The dangers of smoking are well-known, but the risks posed by selling illegal tobacco are often overlooked. Not only does it often contain higher levels of harmful chemicals than legally sold tobacco, its production and distribution are often linked to criminal gangs who engage in other illegal activities such as human trafficking and drug smuggling.

By tackling this illegal trade, London Trading Standards and the London Tobacco Alliance hope to make a positive impact on public health and safety, while also disrupting criminal activity and preventing children and young people getting hooked on tobacco.

How you can help stamp it out

The survey is a simple way for Londoners to contribute to stamping out illegal tobacco trade. By sharing their thoughts and experiences, residents can help to shape a campaign that will make a real difference to the community. Whether you are a smoker or a non-smoker, your input is valuable, and taking just ten minutes to complete the survey can help to create a safer, healthier future for all.

We are looking for views from both smokers and non-smokers. Please spare 10 minutes to take part using this link
